Even Paul clearly indicates in Eph. 2:1-3 that the believing elect he is addressing were under the wrath of God until they believed.
There is no mention of infants and young children being baptized in the NT because it was impossible for them to respond to the Gospel.
Calvin seeks to explain the assurance of salvation for the elect in this section of the Institutes, but he digresses to the extreme in dealing with the reprobate.
If our Calvinistic brethren have to resort to this kind of objection, then it is a good indication that they are running out of biblical arguments.
These chapters also fail to note the salient fact that not once in the Old or New Testament is there a direct statement that says Christ died only for the elect.
