Altar Call Report: Revival

November 4, 2013

J. Ben Simpson, pastor
West Main Baptist Church
Alexandria, Tenn.

On Sunday, November 3, we kicked off our annual fall revival. Of course, it’s always a bit presumptuous to schedule a “revival,” but we love to set aside time in the spring and fall to especially focus on church renewal and evangelism.

Heading into this revival, we prayed like we’ve never prayed before. First, 50 days before today, we asked people in our congregation to give us names of people they know who have never trusted Christ as their Savior and Lord. We received almost 250 names. Second, we wrote the first name of each person on cards and posted them around our sanctuary. Then, every Sunday and Wednesday evening, we divided into small groups and prayed for these people and encouraged people to actively share the gospel with those whose names they had listed. The Lord has been so gracious to us. At this point, even before our “official” revival even began, the Lord has saved three people that we have been praying for, and we believe this is just the tip of the iceberg. May God bring about a massive harvest as His people labor in the field.

Ben: We appreciate your willingness to lead evangelistically, and to share with the world what our glorious God is doing among those of His people you serve as the Lord’s under-shepherd. — Norm

Wow!! That is a great idea on how to pray for our lost friends and family. I may “steal” that idea, if that’s okay.
