About
These are challenging times in the Southern Baptist Convention. There are forces at work that appear to be intent on minimizing our historical Baptist distinctives in favor of a new ecumenism.
SBC Today exists to restore unity in the convention around biblical discipleship and our historic Baptist distinctives. This site is here to give a voice to what we believe to be the heart of the great majority of Southern Baptists. We will cast a positive vision for the future of the Southern Baptist Convention, one rooted in our historic and biblical identity. We will offer resources for pastors and interested Baptists on a variety of topics, from sermon ideas and outlines to articles on a variety of topics related to Baptist identity, faith, and practice.
We are not crusaders, nor are we journalists. We are ordinary Southern Baptist pastors. Robin Foster is pastor of a church plant in Perkins, Oklahoma. Scott Gordon, having served churches as Children’s Minister and Youth Pastor, pastors a church in the Northland area of Kansas City, Missouri. Wes Kenney is serving in his first pastorate in a small, rural church in southeastern Oklahoma. Tim Rogers has been in the ministry since 1990 and has served in the pastorate in both North and South Carolina. He is serving as pastor of a church located in a rural community that is quickly changing to suburban. And Joe Stewart is the pastor for nine years of FBC Littlefield in West Texas. He also has served as the chair of the SBTC Executive Board.
We are ordinary men who care deeply about the future effectiveness of the SBC for God’s glory, and believe that that effectiveness is best served by a revitalization of our historic and biblical identity, and not by an abandonment of those sacred values.
