Podcasting Tonight

It’s been an eventful day at the Southern Baptist Convention, and folks are sharing their thoughts with one another in hotel lobbies and convention center hallways across Orlando. The SBC Today team will be recording a podcast episode tonight in the lobby of the Residence Inn on Universal Boulevard in Orlando. We’ll be sharing reflections on the events of the day, and on the future of our convention.

If you’re in the area, feel free to stop by and join us. If you’d like more info, comment here and we’ll get back to you.

I viewed via streaming video. However, the video didn’t show the room when the two votes were taken to ammend part 3 of the GCRTF report. Evidently those votes were “too close to call” based upon a show of ballots. Could you give us a firsthand account on how close those votes were?

Over time I decided to support the TF’s report even though I had some reservations with it. My main problem was the ambiguity about what was going to “replace” the cooperative agreements.

Also, I shared the concern of many that the TF’s report was causing too much polarization over the issue of the real or perceived marginalization of the cooperative program. I believe that the ammended version of the TF report shows that Southern Baptists can come to grips with the need for change while not tossing aside tools whose utility has been proven.

I told Wes I’d be glad to show up and lead the discussion, but that seemed to make him nervous.

I really enjoyed getting to know you guys a little this week. Now, I can put a face to a name when I devastate you with my wit and wisdom.
