Brother Mark,

For me, it is not that they are silent. It is that the GCRTF has not sought them out to try to hear their concerns. They have expressed their concerns behind the scenes and those concerns seem to have been rejected. I do wish the TF would have a special meeting with those that ushered in the Conservative Resurgence. Dr. Akin has done a great job in today's post over at BtT (<a href="http://betweenthetimes.com/2009/12/11/the-future-of-the-southern-baptist-convention-pt-2/" rel="nofollow">see here</a>) but the words seem to ring a little hollow if the TF has not sought advice from these leaders and done all they could to involve them in this movement.

All,

Yeah It was supposed to read "not". What happens when you write late at night.

I am praying along with you that we will not just be "trimming the fat". I personally think it is going to take more than that for a GCR and if i am not mistaken i think the TF feels the same way. I guess we will all have to wait and see.

I do wish along with you we would get some response from Patterson and Vines. Though their silence does not greatly concern me, seeing that we have multiple influential and theogically based men of God speaking out positively for the GCR and GCRTF, I would like to see them make some sort of reply concerning the GCR.

With God,

Mark,

Thanks for the comment. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you meant to say "just because you do not agree with me about the GCR i am <b><i>not</b></i> against you." We're not against you, either. :)

Nor are we against any of the good men and women on the task force, despite our concerns. I think all of us would echo your prayer that their work will serve to "make us more efficient in many areas." None of us favor waste. Our concern is that simply trimming fat does not make a Great Commission Resurgence. It has to begin and remain in the local churches.

I don't know if public statements of support from Drs. Patterson and Vines would alleviate the concerns of those who are uneasy about the task force, but it would go a long way, and Tim's curiosity about their lack of involvement is shared by many, myself included.

Again, thanks for the comment. Drop by anytime.

Hey,

I liked the podcast. Though I do not agree with everything you are saying. I would like to point out that many who do disagree with you do not think it makes you any less SB than anyone else. I know one of the bloggers on the other post. I have had conversations with him (no name mentioned) and he just believes that there may be a difference in views about church. I do not think he would ever deny that you are any less SB than he is even though he does not agree.

I will say that just because you do not agree with me about the GCR i am against you. I pray that we will, as a convention, change somethings that will make us more efficient in many areas.

I do have on question though about the podcast. I do not know who made the comment. My questions is: If Dr. Patterson or Dr. Bines were to come online with the GCR and GCRTF would more people open up and be on board with it?

Thank you all again.

Hope i commented in a Christ like Manner.
