Dallas, Texas March 23 – Dr. Bob Eklund, founder of Eklund Stewardship Ministries, has announced that he is promoting Tim Guthrie to President/COO of the ministry (Guthrie had been serving as Vice President). Dr. Eklund will assume the title of Founder/CEO. Eklund Stewardship Ministries is the only completely minister-led Stewardship ministry in the nation. Building upon the legacy established by Dr. Eklund while serving as Stewardship Director for the Baptist General Convention of Texas and now Stewardship Consultant to the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention, Eklund Stewardship serves churches in the areas of biblical stewardship development. As a complete stewardship ministry, the team at Eklund Stewardship partners with churches in the areas of capital fund development, church financial wellness, budget development, conflict resolution, and leadership solutions. Tim Guthrie, who pastors Arlington Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, first met Dr. Eklund during his first Capital Fund Campaign in the early nineties. The relationship grew over the years and in 2004 Guthrie joined the Eklund Team. Guthrie and his wife Heidi brought to Eklund Stewardship their Church Financial Wellness and Church Assessment ministries which they pioneered in 2003. Since then, Guthrie has co-authored with his wife the 40 day devotional book “A Journey to Faithfulness” (which has sold over 5,000 copies), Money Matters Made Easy (a complete guide for couples and finances), and 40 Days of Vision. All are available through Eklund Stewardship Ministries. Guthrie a graduate of Liberty University and currently completing his Doctorate of Christian Education. He has served in ministry for over 21 years, preached in 24 States and 4 countries, preached via television into over 1.5 million homes, taught classes and preached Convocation at Liberty University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and is the host of the Winning Truth radio broadcast which can be heard over the internet. Having successfully led capital campaigns as a pastor, Guthrie is fully equipped in understanding the needs of today’s churches and in protecting the pastor during the process.
In making this announcement, Dr. Eklund is assigning the day to day leadership, growth and management of the ministry to Guthrie, while Eklund will continue to direct the overall vision and concentrate on his role as Stewardship Consultant to the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. The two have teamed together to do large church capital fund campaigns and look forward to increasing this approach in the years ahead.
