Would you consider releasing these podcasts as Mp3s? It would be great to put them on an Mp3 player and listen to them in the car.

The Regents themselves couldn't pinpoint one specific "thing" that caused the firing of John Lilley. No Regent said: We did this because of the Faculty Senate. Intsead, the Regents cited Lilley for "failing to unite the Baylor family"

As if any President could accomplish such a task! The Regents are just as much and probably more to blame for the continued "disunity" at Baylor University.

Baylor has hired an interim Provost (who will hopefully one day get to drop the interim tag) named Elizabeth Davis who is a member at my church.

Gentlemen,

This should add a new wrinkle. Sometimes it is good to hear the inflections and hesitations as one explains their viewpoints. It should be fun listening.

Like Peter, I too think it will be a good opportunity to discuss in more detail some of the finer distinctions within the SBC such as:

Is faith completely a gift, and how do the SBC Seminaries stand on the doctrine of faith?
How are ways that SBC churches teach “sanctification” and the believer’s responsibility?
Is the “body of Christ” described in scripture the same as the “church”?

I look forward to the discussions. This will be kind of like the “White Horse Inn”, but with SBC allegiance. Thanks for putting this together.

Blessings,
Chris

Brother BDW,

How can you say what you said about the Regents when others will tell you the regents acted based on the Faculty Senate vote?

Blessings,
Tim

Jason,

I remember a comedy sketch I once saw in which the announcer said, "If you'd like a transcript of today's show, simply write down everything we say."

Short of one of us doing that, I know of no other way to generate a transcript, and it's not something we had really thought about.

Sorry not to be more helpful.

Probably a generation gap here. I have an ipod but don't use it this way and would rather read than listen (saves time).

Best wishes for your podcasts anyway...:)

I put down the Wii and decided to listen to the first half of this podcast.

Given Bart's perspective on the Baylor situation, I thought I'd share with your readers this editorial from Marv Knox of the Baptist Standard. Marv articulates what many close to Baylor have been thinking. Fairness requires that a finger or two be pointed in the direction of the Board of Regents in addition to the Faculty. They are, after all, the seemingly secretive group that ousted both Sloan and Lilley.

CB Scott has hollered loudly that many of the trustees in SBC Life aren't fit to serve and need to be replaced. Same could be said at Baylor. Baylor, a school that desires to be Tier One, has Regent(s) with only a high school degree. Some say the non-BGCT Regents control the BGCT Regent nominating process. Thus, we have instances where when one Regent's term is up, his relative or church member gets nominated. And the list goes on. So, one can't point to the faculty and say: you're the problem. That's oversimplifying the issue.

William,

I subscribe to a number of podcasts, but I don't "block out" time to listen to any of them. They're downloaded to my iPod automatically, and when I'm going somewhere (or when I'm mowing), I catch up on what I've missed.

Of course, if you're without an iPod, I can't help you... :)

Seriously, thanks for your comment.
