Pray for Union University

Union University in Jackson, Tennessee was struck by a tornado last evening. No life-threatening injuries are reported, but the school’s dormitories and academic buildings sustained heavy damage. Details can be found by clicking here.

We’ll continue with our current series of interviews this afternoon. This morning, please take some time to pray for the school. Give thanks to God for his protection of human life, and pray that the school’s president, Dr. David Dockery, be given wisdom in the days ahead as they begin to recover.

I just talked with David Worley (Volfan) and he was on his way to pick up his daughter at Union. He was thankful that she and the other students were alright. He said he might come home with a houseful of college students. Praise God that his daughter is safe and that God has people like David and his wife to minister. David said that he appreciated the prayers.

Might I ask that prayers be lifted for all the families who have been affected by last night’s storms and tornadoes.

Just saw Dr. Dockery on Fox News. He said every building has received extensive damage. The leadership is meeting today to discuss how to move forward with the academic calender.

  3. Volfan,

We were hunkered down in Nashville (Hermitage) as several twisters missed us by about 3-4 miles.

Let me know if we can provide any assistance, as you take care of the Union students. We would be happy to help out! We not far from you guys.

thanks for your prayers. i just got back from jackson. the devastion is more than i can describe to yall. my daughter’s car is upside down and on top of another car. the dorm next to my daughters dorm was rubble. my daughter actually saw the ceiling lift up from the wall in the bathroom they were hiding in, and they actually could see the night sky at one point. it all looks like someone dropped bombs on north jackson. thank God my daughter is ok. thanks God that the others at union are ok. how in the world that out of 1200 students living on campus nobody was killed is beyond me. it was just the hand of God.

thanks again for your prayers. the union family will need much prayer to get thru this.
